Dear Colleagues,

Thank you sincerely for the time you have given me and for your continued commitment to our Union.

I, Prof. Shadrack Muya, humbly seek your mandate to serve as your UASU National Trustee under The SAFE Agenda 2026.

As we reflect on the future of our Union, one important defining question arises:

One of the outgoing National Trustees delivered exemplary service marked by commendable stewardship, strong accountability, sound fiduciary responsibility, and effective oversight.

As he transitions to other national responsibilities, we must reflect carefully: in whose hands shall we entrust these critical values that safeguard our Union?

I offer myself for that responsibility under the SAFE AGENDA 2026

S – Stewardship of the Constitution

I will ensure that all Union activities, decisions, and leadership actions strictly adhere to the Constitution. I will protect the integrity of governance processes, including elections, appointments, and decision-making structures, while guarding against arbitrary or unilateral decisions.

👉 In essence: Rule-based leadership, institutional stability, and respect for governance systems.

A – Accountability in Funds and Assets

I will promote prudent and transparent management of Union resources through proper budgeting, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting. I will ensure that all funds are used for their intended purposes and that Union assets are safeguarded.

👉 In essence: Trusted, credible, and disciplined financial management.

F – Fiduciary Integrity and Compliance

I will uphold fiduciary duty by acting in the best interests of members, maintaining high standards of integrity, ensuring compliance with laws and policies, and promoting ethical leadership free from conflicts of interest.

👉 In essence: Leadership that is ethical, trustworthy, and legally sound.

E – Effective Oversight and Reporting

I will strengthen systems for supervision of Union operations, provide regular and transparent reporting, enhance internal checks and balances, and improve communication between leadership and members.

👉 In essence: Openness, accountability, and informed member participation.

This election is about preserving trust, strengthening governance, and securing the future of our Union.

The question remains: in whose hands shall we entrust the future of our Union?
